Red, White and Gluten Free

Red, white, sweet, dry, Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, oh so many to choose from... I love wine..and it's gluten free.

My love of wine began in an adult education class "Wine Appreciation" at the local high school.  My children had gone off to college and I no longer had PTA, homework, soccer, softball or baseball games. I had time to do things I enjoyed, find a new hobby. As I looked through the adult education booklet, this class caught my eye. The only wine I ever drank at this point was white zinfadel loaded with ice.  A wine connoisseur by no means.

The class focused on a different wine region each night and we sampled a variety of wines from that region and made notes on what we thought of each. I used a "star" rating from 1 star to 4 stars next to each wine as I tasted it, 4 stars indicating I liked it and would buy it. We learned how wines are made, the different grape varieties, how to read a wine label, and wine pairing with food. I never realized how different each wine could taste and how it could taste better with certain foods, and how the taste could change with time. Off I went to the wine store, with my notes in hand to find my delicious wines and learn to pair them with food. I was hooked. I've taken the class over again many times, each year there are different wines to taste and more to learn about them. I've made some wonderful friends, learned to make homemade wine and planned several wine tasting vacations!

Do you know what the most important thing I learned in the class? A good wine is a wine you enjoy! Doesn't matter where it's from, how expensive it is or if someone else likes it or not. If you like it,  it's a good wine!
